The most important thing we as a good firearms instructor can do for the student is to help a student learn. Always remember, we must walk before we run. Breaking everything down into small tasks (modules) will go a long way to accomplish this goal.
Explain what you are going to do.
Show them what you want them to do.
Demonstrate what you want them to do.
Have the student replicate what you want them to do in small parts (modules).
We provide continuous feedback to the student. It is important they understand what they are doing. We don't rely on gadgets. Many struggling shooters feel that they would do better if only they had a particular flashlight, laser, grip or other firearm accoutrement. The fact is, while the gadgetry is nice, it's the shooter behind the gun, not the gun, that truly makes the difference. We focus on the shooter and how to improve their strengths using fundamental shooting skils.
If you are looking for a safe and fun firearms community, join us. We focus on shooting sports of all kinds for the purpose of education and enjoyment. Even the best of us can always learn something new.
